Mi2 worked hard with Daimler Greater China on its new Beijing HQ project and so is justly proud to win the Herman Miller "Liveable Office Awards" Design Competition.
In this 2017-2018 "Liveable Office Awards"Design Competition held by Herman Miller for the Asia-Pacific region, Mi2 took home the "Commercial Business - Workspace Design Award", considered the highest award in the competition.
One of five global architectural design companies shortlisted from 150 entries, Mi2 founder Lucy Sun and Group Managing Director Desmond Tan were in Tokyo, Japan to represent Mi2 and the Daimler Greater China Beijing HQ project on March 22nd. The Beijing project had made it to the final round of the competition, against four tough opponents: architectural design companies all with strong reputations in the industry. These four were from Japan, India, and Australia and their projects included commercial workspaces of the world's 500 largest companies, including General Electric and MetLife.
The Mi2-designed Daimler Greater China Beijing headquarters project conquered the judging team, winning their unanimous approval and bringing the ultimate victory.
Herman Miller is a world famous manufacturer of office furniture and equipment as well as home furnishings, and is especially well known for ergonomic office chairs. Herman Miller believes the office of today needs to be a healthy work environment for individuals that is high-performance, responsive, empowering and ergonomic to encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing. The objective of this competition held by Herman Miller is to raise awareness of the importance of good workspace design for companies to leverage their broader organizational goals.
From the award’s first iteration in 2013, Herman Miller has captured the imagination of the commercial sector’s most active designers throughout the Asia Pacific region. The Daimler Greater China Beijing headquarters project was designed and planned by Mi2 and client Daimler Greater China. It puts occupants' health and well-being first, while standing at the forefront of sustainable building design.
