Mi2 Wins Another Prestigious Asian Design Award
Mi2 is fully committed to WELL, the global movement to enhance people's health and well-being in buildings.

Mi2 is fully committed to WELL, the global movement to enhance people's health and well-being in buildings.

We spend more than 90% of our time in buildings. The physical environments in which we live, work and relax have a profound impact on our well-being, including our mood, the food we eat, and even our quality of sleep.

Ninety percent of office workers in a recent survey said the quality of their office environment affects their attitude towards work – be it positive or negative.

Buildings, therefore, have a crucial impact on health and well-being. The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), a public benefit corporation, is driving a global movement to enhance people's health and well-being in buildings and communities. Through its WELL Building Standard, an industry-leading certification program for buildings, interior spaces and communities that support and advance human health and wellness, the IWBI has established a comprehensive code of conduct to ensure human health in the built environment.

The product of six years of research and development, the WELL Building Standard represents a comprehensive approach to health and well-being by focusing on seven key areas:

Air: Optimizing indoor air quality to ensure smooth, easy breathing.
Water: Promoting and improving access to high-quality water sources.
Nutrition: Encouraging healthy eating and limiting access to unhealthy food and drink options.
Light: Maximizing the benefits of sunlight and lighting system design, ensuring alertness, enhancing the living and working experience, and improving sleep quality.
Fitness: Incorporating sports and fitness into everyday life.
Comfort: Ensuring a quiet, efficient and comfortable working environment.
Mind: Optimizing cognition and emotional health through design, technology and healing strategies.

Obtaining WELL certification is a guarantee that buildings and projects prioritize health and well-being and are at the forefront of sustainable building design.

Conducting the world's largest
WELL-certified building project

Underlining its commitment to WELL certification, Mi2 is currently working on the world’s largest WELL-certified building project – the Greater China headquarters of a leading global automotive manufacturer, covering an area of 20,000 square meters over 10 floors.

Upon completion, the office will be the largest in an illustrious list of more than 350 WELL-certified developments across the globe, home to many of the world’s top enterprises and brands. Notable WELL-certified developments worldwide include:

▲ The Global Corporate Headquarters of CBRE Group in downtown Los Angeles, the world's first WELL-certified office.

▲ 50 Martin Place, Sydney. This heritage landmark building, which serves the headquarters of Macquarie Group, was built between 1925 and 1928. During reconstruction, the interior of the building was transformed into a state-of-the-art commercial office space with level-11 WELL certification, while preserving the remains of the original heritage banking chamber on the ground floor.

▲ 425 Park Avenue, New York. This is the first full-block office building on Park Avenue in Manhattan for nearly 50 years, adding a new landmark to the Manhattan skyline and serving as a model for 21st-century office design.

▲ Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Pittsburgh. The world’s first institution worldwide to achieve WELL Platinum Pilot Certification, this project obtained the highest rating awarded by the IWBI for its Sustainable Landscape Center (CSL).

Encourage employees to earn WELL AP
certification

Mi2 also encourages its employees to participate in WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) training and exams. Employees who attended training and examinations in September have all obtained WELL AP certification.

Receiving the certification requires learning how to create a building that enhances people's eating, sleeping and athletic performance, their working conditions and well-being. Being a member of the WELL AP community enhances the competitiveness of a workforce and gives them access to further education, up-to-date health strategies and groundbreaking research findings.

WELL AP certification demonstrates the certification holder's expertise in WELL building standards and passion for human health and well-being in buildings and communities. Mi2 will continue to fully support the growth and development of the global WELL movement, believing that by improving architectural and spatial design, we can change the environment around us, improve our own health and well-being and, ultimately, help to change the world.
